Kiwanis is an international organization that exists solely to serve the children of the world.  Since we are the Southeast Volusia Kiwanis our focus is on the children in this area.

When the schools needed to close their doors due to Covid-19 and as teachers and administration worked hard to find creative ways to continue their caring education, the Kiwanis Club of SE Volusia County sought a way to help.

Through a joint effort with Edgewater Public School and Scholastic Books this Kiwanis Organization provided a backpack and a free book to each of the 525 students that attend the school.  The project is called “Kiwanis Reads!” and is based on a on project first started in Ormond Beach.

The backpacks and books were handed out to the students on May 18-19.  The school will be challenging the students to achieve reading goals over the summer and once the goals are reached Kiwanis will provide an event to help celebrate.

This is just one example of the way Kiwanis helps kids.  If you would like to find out more about what Kiwanis does or if you think you want to be a part of this awesome organization please email us at or check us out on Facebook.
